What’s really lurking under your sink?????
Hope everyone is well and surviving lockdown.
We thought this week we would share with you some nasty products you may have in your home and be tempted to use in our absence.
My passion has always been to find safer, healthier, kinder ways to live and look after Mother Earth. I learnt a long time ago that the everyday chemical cleaners, that you can easily purchase in any supermarket, are mostly very unkind to us and the planet. In fact, they are downright dangerous.
Most synthetic cleaning products are endocrine disruptors, carcinogens, or neurotoxins. Carcinogens are known cancer-causing chemicals, neurotoxins impact brain function, and endocrine disruptors can mess with hormones, cause infertility, menstrual issues and more.
In Australia cleaning products do not have to list exact ingredients on their bottles. You have to search. It is very scary what you find. Even worse, these products are tested on animals to gauge the amount of toxin they can take before they die or get extremely sick. In fact, the real guinea pigs are us. This is not a world I want to be a part of, and do not have to be.
Here are the TOP 3 household staples that are full of harmful chemicals that can impact hormones, brain function and even cause cancer.
- Window Cleaners – These are without a doubt one of the worst cleaning products for your health. Most mainstream brands contain 2-butoxyethanol. This can wreak havoc with both your liver and your kidney.
- Air Fresheners – Fragrance is an important cleaning chemical ingredient to look out for. Mostly just listed as ‘Fragrance’ some are actually adding harmful chemicals like phthalates, a health disruptor that bypasses the skin and directly impacts our organs. Do not underestimate the danger of plug in and smelly toilet sprays.
- Antibacterial Products – Kills 99% of germs! This is the tell-tale sign that this product may contain the very dangerous Triclosan.A lot of hand soaps and general surface sprays contain this pesticide. Remember, this ingredient is NOT listed on the bottle. Chemicals found in Antibacterial products can create drug-resistant superbugs and are major endocrine disruptors.
There are at least another 5 top poisons you might find in your home and I will share more in the coming newsletters and on our Social Media and Website.
The best solution is to use 100% natural products and go back to basics with old fashioned pure soaps, good cloths, and natural oils. At M&M Eco we have developed and use exactly that every time we clean your home. We look forward to doing that once again soon.
As mentioned last week, over the next couple of weeks, we will be introducing you to the wonderful teams Lou & I have chosen as ambassadors of M&M Eco.
This week we are proud to introduce Sweta and Satyaseelan (Seelan).
Today we would like to introduce you to our sister and brother team, Gunawathi (Sokki) and Kanagaraj (Mathan).
Hi, I’m Sweta from Punjab, India.
I was teaching English and Computer Skills to primary/secondary school students before coming to Australia with my husband in February 2019, to complete further studies (Master of Information Technology).
When I first arrived, I was waitressing at restaurants, however, the pay rate was not enough to pay my school fees, and I reached home very late at night.
I decided to look for a new job for myself and found the residential cleaning job ads on Gumtree…and now here I am with Tammie and Brian, M&M Eco Area Licensees and the M&M Eco family.
What do you love most about being in the M&M Eco family?
- Good pay.
- Always supportive and understanding. I’m always grateful for them.
- Good reputed company.
- This is a place where I learn team values.
What are your dreams for the future?
One day I would like to become an interpreter and open my own restaurant.
Hi I’m Seelan
I was born in Port Dickson, Malaysia.
I have two younger siblings in Malaysia, which I still support for school and tuition fees.
In 2016 I arrived in Australia as a farmworker. I was cheated by the contractor about my settlement, so I jumped to a few other casual jobs, all with poor pay. I was jobless, and my housemates took care of my expenses for a few months.Desperate and looking for a new job which was not temporary, one of my housemates introduced me to Tammie & Brian, M&M Eco Area Licensees, in April 2018.
Since I joined the M&M Eco family, I have almost solved some of my financial problems, and never looked for another job – I’m happy with my current position.
What do you love most about being in the M&M Eco family?
- Good pay
- Staff amenities
- Comfortable work environment
- Natural products which are not harmful to us or the world
- Team work
- Motivated / encouraged
- I feel like I have a second family
What are your dreams for the future?
One day I would like to build my assets, own a farming business, marry someone I love and settle down.
Thank you so much for sharing your lives with us Sweta and Seelan.
As we approach Spring, I am so grateful for the beautiful world we live in and that I can make a difference by choosing my footprint and that of M&M Eco’s.
Love and gratitude.
