Toilets – The Last Frontier!!
A couple of weeks ago I shared with you 3 Top Cleaning staples that you may find under your kitchen sink that are toxic – Window Cleaners, Air Fresheners and Antibacterial products. Let’s now investigate the toilet.
Toilet Bowl Cleaners
One of the most often asked questions I hear from concerned Mums when switching from chemical based cleaners to natural safe cleaners is ..”But What About The Toilet? Surely, I need to still use my bleach-based product to kill all the germs and keep my family safe?”
I call it the Last Frontier! This is always the very last place that most people don’t feel convinced that Eco Cleaners do the job. So, lets clear this up once and for all. Here are some interesting statistics from the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention. Did you know these surfaces have more germs on that your toilet seat?
- Toilet and bathroom door handles
- Hand towels
- Toothbrush holders
- Cutting boards
- Your kitchen cloth or sponge
- Pet Bowls
- Inside your washing machine
- Your smart phone and computer keyboard
- Your purse
- Your carpet
How does that feel for you? YES! AMAZING isn’t it??
So back to the toilet. Most chemical toilet cleaners contain some, if not all, the following dangerous chemicals.
- Hydrochloric acid (HCl)
- Sodium lauryl ether sulfate (or Sodium Laureth Sulfate, SLES)
- Cetrimonium chloride (CTAC)
- Sodium hydroxide (NaOH)
- Sodium Hypochlorite (bleach)
All these ingredients are known toxic chemicals that can harm our bodies. They are skin irritants, can cause irreversible damage to our eyes and lungs, are corrosive to human tissue, can cause cancer, affect our hormones and the list goes on. You think you may rinse and wipe away all the cleaning product on your toilet seat, however particles are still left behind for the next ‘behind’ to unknowingly endure!!
And remember – every time you flush toxic chemicals down the drain you kill something very precious in our water ways and environment.
Now that we know your toilet is not as germ ridden as you think, and that the chemical cleaners you can buy on the supermarket shelf are more dangerous than the germs themselves, it’s time to tackle the toilet with natural, safe, eco-friendly alternatives and once and for all conquer the Last Frontier in your eco home transition.
Safe and Effective Toilet Cleaning:
For years I have used things like vinegar and carb soda, eucalyptus and tea tree oils, and made sure I have wiped and dried surfaces thoroughly with a cloth to finish. With this as a starting point, and my past 10 years’ experience of cleaning 1000’s of homes with M&M Eco, I have developed a really clean and thorough system which includes 19 very methodical steps, using our Tuff Luv, Bush Blend, Luvely Loo and high quality microfibre cloths to ensure our toilets always sparkle and are left perfectly germ free without harming the environment. I love the Win-Win.
I hope now you feel confident that the correct practice with the right eco product is more than enough to break through the Last Frontier of your home and you have a Happy Toilet, Happy Family and Happy Environment.
In keeping with our theme of introducing our team members, today we are going to be hearing from our wonderful Licensees, Tammie & Brian.
Hi, I’m Tammie, head Licensee for M&M Eco with my partner Brian.
I was born in Cheras, Malaysia and as a single Mum, came to Australia in 2007 for a beautiful future.
I started working in Shepparton as a seasonal farm worker, before moving on to become a Laundry Hand. Due to the very low pay rate, I was also doing part-time commercial cleaning.
In 2012, I met Brian and after gaining much experience, we started a commercial cleaning business, managing 60 commercial and office premises as subcontractors.
In 2015, most of the contracts were not renewed due to a flood of new cleaning companies in such a small town. So, in 2017, we moved to Melbourne and started subcontracting with three different companies (bond cleaning, office cleaning, and aged care). We were so busy that we struggled to manage the time.
We began looking for other opportunities, met with Pauline and Lou and accepted their offer to join the M&M Eco family as Licensees. We began with four team members and have now built our wonderful team to 12 and counting.
Brian & I count our M&M Eco team members and co-workers as family, and we all love going in to look after our client’s homes to make a difference. We choose our teams very carefully, appreciate them all and enjoy each other’s company and having fun together.
I love M&M Eco because Pauline and Lou know how to treat people with respect, and we thank them for giving us the opportunity for our success.
My future goal is to become an essential part of M&M Eco, someday owning a franchise for my team members.
Hi, I am Brian, head Licensee at M&M Eco with my partner Tammie.
I was born in Johor, Malaysia and did network marketing.
In 2012 I visited Australia and met Tammie and due to her experience, we decided to start a commercial cleaning business of our own. I decided to stay permanently in Australia in 2014 because of the love and care Tammie shows to those around her.
Due to the high competition in Shepparton, it became difficult to survive with limited jobs, so in 2017, we moved to Melbourne to look for more opportunities.
As we expected, we found a lot of sub-contracting jobs with several different companies providing bond cleaning services, commercial cleaning, and aged care services. The downside of working for so many companies was its affect on our work-life balance. We decided to search for a platform whereby we could work for one company, with a large client base.
I remember meeting the beautiful Lou and Pauline, founder of M&M Eco and chatting openly with them with immediate good vibes. Every time we met them, the good vibes continued, and so began our journey with M&M Eco.
We have now built a wonderful M&M Eco family (our team members) and love the company because:
- Pauline and Lou produce such positive vibrations.
- I like the sustainability ethic of the company and am interested in protecting the natural environment.
- M&M Eco offers diversity in the workplace and a great organisational culture.
- M&M Eco has never failed to show care and respect for both customers and our team members alike.
- It supports and uses locally made eco-products.
My future dream would be to become a successful businessman and to inspire those around me.
Lou and I are so extremely proud and feel very privileged to have met Tammie and Brian, and to now have them as head Licencees for M&M Eco.
The relationship they have built with their beautiful team members is a credit to them.
When we first met them, we had a real sense of relationship and could envision them being long term partners with us. We are proud they decided to “jump aboard” for the ride.
Thank you, Tammie, Brian and your beautiful team.
As another week passes us by, we are grateful for the warmer weather and longer days.
We hope everyone remains safe and well.
With Love and gratitude.
